Other Cinema Final Show

Last Saturday was Other Cinema's final show for the year and I would say that it was one of their finest yet. Although that was the first one I have been to. I will say this, I will be back for their next season. I cannot recall any names to give credit to but as a whole they inspired me immensely. I did think that a few of them ran a little long and monotonous. I will be dabbling in film in my future.

BFA/Intermedia Final Show

The three locations I chose to put my flyer were ATA Gallery, Blick Art Supplies, and with my friend Gianni in North Beach. I chose ATA Gallery for the obvious reason that I'm promoting a type of projection art and this is an experimental film house. It just seemed fitting. The second place was Blick Art Supplies. I figured this is a good place to attract potential students. The third place is Gianni's hands. When we are hanging out in North Beach he is my best promotion, asking everyone we come across if they've heard of me and will then continue to explain to them why Im so great. Its flattering, sometimes embarrassing, but great promotion.

Artist Date II "Finding Pete"

Well for my second artist date I took myself to Jack London Square for an exquisite lunch and a romantic walk on the rocks by the bay. It started with lunch at my favorite park bench overlooking the marina. I dined on a scrumptious peanut butter and raspberry sandwich, crunchy cheetos, and a delicious Arizona iced tea. After lunch I took a long walk on the rocks along the banks. It was low tide so the air was filled with the smell of salt water, algae and bay sludge. I was on the search for interesting objects. I gravitate towards chunks of styrofoam that have been weather and water beaten. I found a lot of great objects but I was on my bike so my take was limited to small objects. I did find one gem though, a life size styrofoam parakeet with real feathers! I named it Pete the parakeet. There is something about styrofoam and water. I guess because it never sinks it is always going to be noticed but it seems there is amount of styrofoam chunks in bodies of water. Its a double edge sword of sorts. On one hand it is just a nasty site but on the other it is like finding gold for me, and sometimes you find a new friend like Pete.

A&C/Spark Installation

This is the Installation I did for the A&C/Spark workshop on sat. I didn't know exactly what I was going to do but I had an idea. The idea was to comment on the potential for water to become a memory, and also the memories water carry, from where it flows to what it leaves behind.

Prints

I have been working on getting Giclee prints of my work over this last year and am hitting it pretty heavy before open studios in June. If anyone would like to discuss the process I would be more than happy to. The printer I use is a fellow named John Sheridan www.johnsheridanart.com
He is really affordable and easy to work with.
